How do I use TikTok analytics?

How to read your numbers without guessing

TikTok's help centre has a page on using analytics for your account. Whatever screen you use, the useful habit is the same: compare posts with each other, not with famous accounts, and look at more than views.

  • Views tell you how widely a post was shown.
  • Watch time and the share of viewers who watched to the end tell you whether the post held attention, which is the part you control.
  • Follows, comments, shares and saves after a post tell you whether viewers wanted more from you.
  • Traffic sources tell you whether people found the post in the For You feed, your profile, search, or elsewhere.

A monthly review in 15 minutes

Once a month, list your three best and three weakest posts. For each one write the topic, the first sentence and the length. Look for the pattern the best posts share, and plan next month's posts around it. Change one thing at a time, so you can tell what made the difference.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use TikTok analytics?

See which videos were finished and which brought profile visits. Then make the next video closer to the one that did the job you wanted.

When do analytics appear?

TikTok shows account analytics after its own requirements, often once you switch on a professional account. Check the app for the current rule.

What is a good watch time?

Compare your videos with each other. A tutorial and a joke will not share a normal length.

Why did a video get views from another country?

The topic traveled. That is fine if the video still makes sense there. It is a weak goal if you need local customers.

Should I change the account based on one hit?

No. Wait for a pattern. One spike can be a sound or a share you cannot repeat.

Where is the official explanation?

In TikTok's own analytics help and inside the app. Third-party scores are not TikTok's numbers.
