Subscribe to our YouTube channelWhy prices vary
A simple informational website and a custom web application are both built for the web, but they are different projects. The amount of content, number of page types, design work, integrations, custom functionality, testing, and ongoing support can change the cost substantially.
The technology also affects the work, but technology should follow the requirements. A framework name alone does not tell you what a project should cost.
The main cost drivers
Common drivers include strategy and planning, copy and content production, visual design, development, CMS or application setup, integrations, data migration, testing, accessibility work, performance work, hosting, domain registration, and maintenance.
- Number and complexity of pages
- Custom design versus a template or existing system
- Forms, accounts, payments, search, dashboards, or other functionality
- Third-party integrations and APIs
- Content creation, migration, and ongoing updates
- Maintenance, hosting, security, and support
How to compare quotes
Do not compare only the headline price. Compare what is included, what is excluded, who supplies content, how revisions work, what happens after launch, and whether you receive the files and access you need.
A useful quote describes the scope clearly enough that both sides can tell what is finished.
A better first question
Instead of asking for a price before describing the project, describe the business goal, required pages, important functionality, existing assets, and deadline. A realistic scope can then be turned into a more meaningful estimate.
Website cost in Pakistan: what you actually pay for
There is no single price for a website in Pakistan, because quotes bundle very different work. Compare quotes line by line using the parts below, and ask what is included for the second year, not only the first.
- Domain: a .pk or .com.pk domain comes from PKNIC or its resellers. PKNIC lists Rs 2,100 per year for Pakistan-based registrants since 1 August 2026, billed for two years at a time (checked 8 October 2026). Resellers may add their own charge. A .com is bought from any registrar, and prices vary, including at renewal.
- Hosting: from free tiers (for example Vercel's Hobby plan, which its terms limit to personal, non-commercial use) to paid hosting billed monthly or yearly. Business sites should budget for paid hosting.
- Design and build: a template you set up yourself, a freelancer, or an agency. This is usually the biggest and most variable part.
- Content: writing, photos and translation (for example English and Urdu versions) take time or money.
- Features: online payments, bookings, logins and an admin panel each add build and testing work.
- Upkeep: renewals, updates, backups and small changes every month or year.
How to keep the cost down safely
Start with a small site that does one job, such as explaining your service and taking WhatsApp enquiries, and add features after real customers ask for them. Keep the domain registered in your own name and keep your own logins, so you are not locked to one developer.

How much does a website cost?
A domain, hosting, and your time are the basic costs. A designer or developer costs more. Prices change by country, so use the provider's current page.
Can I make a website for free?
You can start on a free plan. Free plans often limit the address, the ads, or the features. Your own domain usually has a yearly fee.
What is the expensive part?
Custom design and custom features, not the domain. A simple site can stay cheap if the scope stays small.
Should I pay for a template?
A paid template can save time. It does not write your pages. Budget for the words and the photos you have rights to use.
Are yearly fees normal?
Yes. Domains and many hosts renew every year. Read the renewal price before the first checkout.
What cost should I ignore at the start?
Extra plugins, a pile of stock photos, and a redesign before the first version is published.
